Roosendaal Jct
Roosendaal Junction started out as an example of what I wanted when I asked for a large station, ie. a station with 1a/b and 2a/b tracks with a joined thru-track so trains can overtake each other in the platform area. Then I got carried away once again.... added 3a/b and 4a/b track.. then 5.... now there are 9 tracks, with 18 platforms (!). Then I added some houses... a shoppingmall... a church.. a suburb.. oh... yes the suburb has a bus-connection to the station of course... and before I knew I had a new layout at my hands. For all those who want to know: Roosendaal is a town in the south of the Netherlands near the Belgian border. The original station has only 6 platforms (1a/b, 3a/b and 4a/b). Some features of the town, like the tv-tower are to be found in Roosendaal, be it that they are not in the same place on the layout. Puriteins may object to the freedom I took re-arranging the town, but it never was intended to be an exact copie but it grew under my hands as I progressed. As in real life, the rails run to Antwerp (Belgium) and Bergen op Zoom in the south, Rotterdam in the North and Breda in the East. Not that these stations are included in the layout. I leave that up to you! But the layout can be used as a module for your own layouts when you need a BIG station!
